Fauna & Flora International (FFI) is greatly saddened by the recent forced takeover of power by the Myanmar armed forces. All evidence and the view of credible observers is that the recent national election was free and fair, and the military therefore has no grounds to declare the result to be void. FFI has been working to support the people and government of Myanmar for over ten years in their efforts to conserve the nation’s biological riches and put the country on a road to environmentally sustainable development, and we confirm our commitment to continue working with all legitimate stakeholders to that end, especially the democratically elected government that reflects the will of the Myanmar people.
