Twenty of the world’s leading conservation organisations have issued an unprecedented joint declaration to the G20 calling for urgent action to invest in nature to protect biodiversity and avoid future pandemics. This group, known as the Wildlife Conservation 20 or the WC20, is calling on governments to act on biodiversity loss and invest in nature or face further devastating pandemics in the future. The joint declaration says that governments must step up to give nature protection the level of sustainable political and financial investment necessary to turn words into effective action, and at the scale required to safeguard nature, ecosystems and biodiversity.

We urgently need world leaders to acknowledge the crucial importance of nature to our societies and economies, commit to investing in it, and unite behind a massive collective effort to conserve it. G20 leaders must act now to protect nature and prevent further pandemics.
