People’s Postcode Lottery

If we are to address the shocking decline in our planet’s biodiversity, we need to work together as a global community. A vital facet of our work at Fauna & Flora, therefore, is to raise awareness of the threats to our natural world and encourage a diverse range of people to join our cause.

Supporting us in this work are the players of People’s Postcode Lottery, whose generous annual awards since 2017 (totalling £750,000) are helping us to tackle the threats to our natural world and find creative new ways to engage with conservation-minded people around the world who share our concern for the future of Earth’s remarkable plant and animal species.

We are incredibly grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their vision and support, which has – among other things – enabled us to develop our fantastic new website.

We are, of course, just one of their beneficiaries. As a charity lottery, players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes, while raising money for charities and good causes across Great Britain and globally. A minimum of 32% of the ticket price goes directly to charities, and (as of September 2020) players have raised a staggering £600 million for good causes.

Speaking about the first award in 2017 that enabled us to connect with our supporters more effectively by updating our website, our vice-president, Sir David Attenborough, said: “Over its 113-year history, Fauna & Flora has saved species from extinction and habitats from destruction. Raising Fauna & Flora’s profile as a leading conservation organisation will enable them to further educate and encourage people, businesses and governments to behave more sustainably.

“I’m thrilled that the award from players of People’s Postcode Lottery will help them gain new supporters and join forces with them to stop biodiversity decline.”
