by Cyril Ruoso & Emmanuelle Grundmann

Published by Evans Mitchell Books
Price: £14.99 - 25p of each copy sold via the FFI website will be donated to FFI.

Being our closest relatives it is not surprising that Great Apes hold an elevated place in our interest of wildlife. They have social cultures, can laugh or recognize themselves in a mirror as we do. Today, following decades of research in primatology, apes have finally joined our family album.
The Great Apes introduces the different species of apes and describes to us their evolution, social customs, complex lifestyles and natural habitats.
The authors also concern themselves with the illegal human activities and commercial assaults on their environment that are endangering the very survival of the species.
This 128 page case bound book is filled with highly informative text and superb photographs, which gives the reader a wonderful insight into these animals.
Please email camila.iturra@fauna-flora.org to place an order. If making an order directly to the publisher please quote Fauna & Flora International as your source.

Sponsor an egg!

Photo: A young Siamese crocodile and an unhatched egg. Credit: Boyd Simpson.Only a few Siamese Crocodiles are left in the wild. They are a ‘keystone’ species, indicating a healthy environment, and are esteemed in the cultures of local Cambodian communities. These crocodiles are not man-eaters, but prefer to feed on smaller prey, especially snakes. Even so, this timid animal has been wiped out from 99% of its natural habitat in south-east Asia. Because of their rarity, Siamese crocodile nests are hard to find – and even harder to protect. Sponsor an egg today for yourself or a friend and give a hatchling a better chance of surviving to an age where it too can breed. Sponsors will receive a certificate of sponsorship, the latest FFI newsletter and a photo of a hatchling and egg!

Dedicate a tree

Photo: Planting a tree will benefit our planet now and for generations to come, Credit: Juan Pablo Moreiras.ITrees make a wonderful gift to celebrate a special event: a new baby, a birthday, a marriage or an anniversary. A tree planted in the name of someone you love is a living gift that comes with lasting memories and will benefit our planet now and for generations to come.

The Tree2reForest scheme, developed in partnership with award-winning company Tree2mydoor, provides a valuable source of income to support local communities in their tree planting activities. Just two dedications alone can provide enough income to support one family for a month.

A certificate of dedication, literature about the area your tree helps to reforest, a profile of the tree species and a copy of Fauna & Flora International’s latest newsletter will be mailed to the recipient.

Log on to www.tree2mydoor.com to find out more.

To learn more about these schemes, or to buy any of these gifts, please contact Camila Iturra at camila.iturra@ fauna-flora.org or call +44 (0)1223 579018.
