The 2011 Big Give Christmas Challenge has now closed. Thank you to everyone who has helped Fauna & Flora International (FFI) to make this a record breaking year for the third year running – raising significant funds for vital conservation work. If you would still like to make a donation to FFI then you can make a regular donation here.
Supporters hear the call and raise over £120,000 in just five days for Conservation.
Between the 5th and 9th December 2011, over 420 charities including Fauna & Flora International (FFI) took part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge. In 2010 FFI’s supporters raised a wonderful £40,000 through the Big Give which the Reed Foundation and other funders turned into an even more wonderful £80,000.
Despite some early difficulties arising from the sheer number of people trying to take advantage of this opportunity to double their donation, FFI’s supporters persevered in raising over £60,000 through this year’s challenge. With the matched funding and Gift Aid this will be worth over £120,000 to FFI.
This significant support will allow FFI to carry out a great deal of effective and innovative conservation work across the planet – securing a future for many endangered species, and supporting the livelihoods of many local communities.
FFI started the Big Give Christmas Challenge strong on Monday morning as donations began to flood in, and despite the Big Give site going down on occasions, carried on doing so right up until Friday evening.
This means that with gift aid and matched funding FFI has raised £122,904 for vital conservation work. We are very grateful for everyone who took part in the 2011 challenge, and especially for persevering in light of the overwhelming generosity of the public that brought the site down at times.
In 2011 the Big Give has raised over £10 million for the 424 charities who took part in the Christmas Challenge.

“Having seen the amazing work they do around the world, I have come to believe that FFI is one of the most forward thinking conservation charities going.
FFI bases its projects on sound science to safeguard habitats, animals and most importantly, the communities that are best placed to protect them.”
