Cambodia’s Cardamom Mountains

 

Trading wild mushrooms Aural Wildlife Sanctuary (M Fox FFI)

FFI has been supporting government efforts to support the highly diverse Cardamom Mountains Range. Its forests are some of the region’s largest remaining habitats for tiger and elephant but are also home to some of the poorest people in Cambodia, many of whom are from a cultural minority that was particularly persecuted under the Pol Pot Regime in the 1970s. FFI is helping communities to improve their food security and overall standard of living by training them to carry out biodiversity-friendly agriculture and communal marketing strategies. At the same time FFI is helping the authorities to strengthen protection of the forests and their wildlife.
