Ometepe programme

The volcanic island of Ometepe, one of the largest freshwater islands in the world, contains all the major Nicaraguan habitats, and is an important Pan-American migrating bird site, making it a key conservation target. FFI is collaborating with various partners to establish a robust management plan incorporating ecotourism for sustainable income generation. FFI is the sole group championing environmental issues in Omepete’s tourism committee.
